COYOTE Calendar: May 7-May 13

This week we've got bestiaries, pond scum, beekeeping, and several ways to treat your mother (defined expansively).

Bold hand drawn words like "poetry" "sports" and "comics" surround a coyote reading a book, against a teal background.

Welcome to the COYOTE Calendar. Here are this week's hand-picked events, just for you.

For film lovers, CAAMFest is on this weekend showcasing work from the Asian American Pacific Islander community (bonus: one of the events, a docuseries screening, features our very own Soleil Ho); for Indigenous baddies the Stanford Powow is on this weekend for its 55th year; for the immersive theatre sickos (complimentary), we highly recommend checking out one of these Merlin Coleman performances Friday or Saturday in Richmond; and for the comics fans, Oakland's first ever Comic Con is this weekend. UC Davis's annual Whole Earth Festival is also happening this weekend and features a very cool lineup, and if you forgot to get a Mother's Day gift, check out the pop-up sale happening all weekend at Hummingbird Farms. Near the end of the week, Taste of Asia begins, running all kinds of delicious stuff from the 10th to the 17th.

Tickets to the Free Key Choir retrospective concert (May 29–31) are available now, and I'm putting it here because if I wait until the week of the concert they will almost certainly be sold out. Get them now! I warned you! Similarly, if you want to go to the May 24th Grown N' Thirsty Queer Dance Party for Over-30 Cuties (which is also a fundraiser for Let Iran Live), get your ticket now, as they don't have many left. Same goes for the annual Chapel of the Chimes concert (June 21st), which always sells out — get your spot now.

This week we've also got bestiaries, pond scum, beekeeping, and several ways to treat your mother (defined expansively). We'll post new events each Wednesday. Go forth and enjoy!
