Comment Policy

We at COYOTE are thrilled to read your pearls of wisdom, quips, complaints, declarations of being “first,” and more.

Who can comment?

Anyone can read comments, but the right to post is reserved for paid members. You can stop reading here if that doesn’t apply to you. If you would like to make a free comment, might we suggest BlueSky or a flyer on your local telephone pole.

What’s not allowed in the comments?

While we at the COYOTE Media Collective exercise democratic decision-making within our worker-owned newsroom, the comments section is not a democracy: It’s more like a benevolent oligarchy, where a small number of bleary-eyed reporters are the ones clamping down on the free speech of the masses.

Types of comments that are explicitly banned include:

  1. Bullying and harassment of COYOTE staff or other commenters. Feel free to disagree with us or each other, but don’t cross the line into getting obnoxious or inserting personal jabs.
  2. Bigotry. At COYOTE, we’re using the “you know it when you see it rule” for this.
  3. Sales pitches and SPAM.
  4. Threats of violence. Obviously… we hope.

We reserve the right to remove any comments we find to be in violation of these standards at our discretion and without explanation. We also reserve the right to ban anyone from commenting for any reason. (Please don’t make more work for us—we’re swamped as is.) For any questions regarding this policy or to report abuse, email hello@coyotemedia.org.
