This week we've got nefarious tales about Vallejo's history, jazzy renditions of A Tribe Called Quest, and queer line dancing for beginners.
Camper English’s popular water tasting course is an exercise in attention — even for us tap-lovin’ plebes.
This week we've got Valentine’s AND anti-Valentine’s parties, vampire drag, and deep dives into Pompeii and ancient Egypt.
Welcome to the COYOTE Calendar. Here are this week's hand-picked events, just for you. The Super Bowl is over, but now, the real games begin. (The game… of love.) We’ve got a truckload of Valentine’s Day and anti-Valentine’s Day events, so regardless of whether or not you have a boo in your life, you’ll still have lots to do.
In San Francisco’s Mission District, historic Balmy Alley becomes Lover’s Lane on V-Day, with an all-day schedule of performances, DJ sets, and vendors. You'll also find us at the Girl Culture is Sacred Valentine's abortion benefit show at El Rio that night! Come say hi!
The Bay Area American Indian Two Spirits (BAAITS) group is also doing a whole week of events in San Francisco, including a gathering for two-spirit and indigequeer youth on Feb. 12 and a book event centered around Indigenous cosmology on Feb. 15.
Obligatory gay nerd shit (complimentary): The OMCA White Elephant Sale is still happening! Deadly Prey, an exhibition of sick-ass, hand-painted movie posters from Ghana, is showing ‘til the end of the month at the Minnesota Street Projects in San Francisco! Hardcore LARPers and tabletop gamers also have DunDraCon (Feb. 13-16) in Santa Clara to look forward to; and San Francisco nerds should check out the FREE Queer Comics Fest at the Main Library on Feb. 15. Comics fans who don’t want to cross the Bay Bridge (I don’t blame you) can check out the East Bay Comic Con in Concord.
Also that weekend: Impress your elders ahead of Lunar New Year by stopping at the Chinese New Year Flower Market Fair in San Francisco Chinatown to stock up on all the florals, red envelopes, and flaming horse merch you’ll need for the holiday. On Feb. 15 and 16, Match Point Brewing in Albany will host new year festivities with mahjong, dim sum, and a special holiday craft beer. You can also catch lion dances, fireworks, and more in Millbrae, Oakland, Hayward, and San Leandro.
This week we've got a literary journal release party, vampire drag, and deep dives into Pompeii AND ancient Egypt. We'll post new events each Wednesday. Go forth and enjoy!

You can see all of COYOTE's past calendar picks here. If you have an event you'd like to see on a future COYOTE Calendar, email us at calendar@coyotemedia.org. If you attended and enjoyed any of these events, we'd love to hear about it in the comments!
