Officials shut down Pacifica Pier after a huge structural crack appeared in June. For anglers, whale watchers, and Pacifica residents, the loss is about more than the pier itself.
We know how much people love their pets. (Please, anyone, <opens our bursting camera rolls> ask us about our pets!) We also know that local papers’ obituaries sections serve an important function in their communities, but they're understandably focused on human beings and generally on the expensive side.
All pets are welcome, regardless of when they passed: dogs, cats, fish, hamsters, birds, lizards, ferrets, a wild skunk you befriended, etc.
Here's how it works:
Send us an email at petobits@coyotemedia.org with a photo of your pet, the birth and death dates (or an approximation), species/breed, a 100-word max remembrance, and your city/town. IMPORTANT: Tell us if you want us to include your full name or a pseudonym.
Submit at least $5 to our tip jar to cover the obit (more is always welcome!). If you’re experiencing extreme economic hardship, let us know and we’ll waive the fee. If you're already a Yapper or Howler-tier member, one pet obit is now included in your membership.
We may lightly copy edit your post before publishing, and we reserve the right to withhold submissions that violate any of our Terms of Service (which of course yours won't, right??).
Then we'll post it and send you the link, along with our deepest thanks and condolences.
We all deserve a space to grieve. To cry and laugh together about the ones we've loved and lost. We hope this can be that place!
